The Great Pyramid of Giza
---
The Great Pyramid of Giza is the ONLY standing Wonder of the Ancient World. Because of this, the location the pyramid was constructed looks similar to what it was back 4500 years ago. The pyramid's sister pyramids, The Pyramid of Kafhre and The Pyramid of Menkaura, and the Great Sphynx, all are near the Great Pyramid of Khufu. [1] [2]
The Pyramid itself is 450 feet high and 756 feet on each side, being the largest pyramid ever constructed. It once had a limestone covering but that had been removed and used to make buildings in Cairo. Even the Pyramid itself had an attempt made on it to disassemble it, but when the Arabs had removed 30 feet they realized it would be near impossible to dissasemble the massive pyramid. [3] [4]
| Beyond the pyramid is The Greater Cairo. It consistes of 2,300,000 blocks and areas of sand, probably as a filler. Each stone weighs about 1,000 pounds. There is little to say about inside except the fact there are 3 chambers, one is underground, the second is called the queens chamber, and the last, the Kings Chamber, is almost at the center of the pyramid, and contains his sarcophagus without a lid.
